PARTNERS: Georgia Foundation /Georgian Diaspora en Local Democracy Agency (LDA) Georgia
Since the 90-ies of the XX century, chaotic migration processes started in Georgia. “Brain Drain” process significantly slow down development processes in the country. In spite of positive changes during last years in the country, small and medium business sector still isn’t well developed and functioning. Lack of experience, knowledge and access to new technologies is barrier for development of SMEs in Georgia.
Based to this situation, The Georgian Diaspora in NL in cooperation with Local Democracy Agency (LDA) Georgia want to start a project that aims to transform the “Brain Drain” into a “Brain Gain” based at migrants’ capacities to support development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) and education of people involved in this sphere in Georgia. Co-partners of the project are: East European Centre (OEC) in the Netherlands; Tilburg University; The Business School “De Rooi Pannen”; The Chamber of Commerce in the Netherlands and Kutaisi Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Based on these experiences, the idea is to create a long-term project for the whole country. We envisage acknowledgement and consequent development of European approaches, experience, standards for better supporting local developments.
Project result / Goals:
We aim to support the construction of Georgia by developing Entrepreneurship and especially the rebuilding of a SME driven structure. In addition, we want to improve the educational level of Georgian employers and Georgian employees.
